Sewing Projects

I am taking a class called "Stitch and Slash" by Craftsy. This is my initial experiment with the technique - I have a plan for a larger piece in the shape of an ammonite. The website also offers free courses including this basic quilting class that I took a while back.

Above is another ATC made from a Gelli print, free embroidered and coloured with Inktense pencils.

2 Journal Spreads

Here's 2 journal pages I did whilst away camping. They both use paint pens and watercolour pencils. The one above is inspired by pipes at Mount piper Power-station. The pages below were inspired by outcrops of granite in the countryside.

Fabric Postcard

I made this fabric postcard for a swap on Jennibellie Workshops. It's made with several layers including a Gelli print, patterned organza, plain organza and free machine embroidery. It's backed with craft weight interfacing to make it stiff enough to go through the post.

Kid Quilts

I made these small quilts after being inspired by this video from Carrie Payne.

The quilt backgrounds are free machined onto dyed cotton fabric. I printed the children's faces out onto TAP artist paper and transferred them to some white cotton. Everything else is made with scraps of different materials I had in my stash.

Prayer Flag

This prayer flag is for a SwapBot exchange. It's made with unbleached cotton, fabric and lace scraps, stamping and TAP images.

Artist's Trading Cards

I've been making these artists trading cards for a swap on the SwapBot website. They are 2.5 by 3.5 inches. The backgrounds are Gelli prints on cotton and they are decorated with machine and hand stitching over a TAP image from Heackel's art forms. The theme for this one above and the two below was "cells".

The theme for these ACTs is Autism Awareness Week. I made them using a brain image from The Graphics Fairy, stuffed and sewn onto a Gelli print background.

Printed Fabric Book Covers

I used free machine embroidery to add some extra details to my printed fabrics (see previous post). I then sewed in some cartridge paper pages to make this cute notebook.

I used up the spare strip to make this bookmark.
